 Hall Of the 1945 Struggle
"This Hall of The 1945 Struggle" lies on Jalan Mayjen Sungkono - West Surabaya,. sharing the same area with the University 45.President Soeharto inaugurated simultaneously the "Sukolilo Haji Hospital" and the "Hall of The 1945 Struggle" on April 17,1993. Besides functioning as office for the Regional Daily Executive Board of the Organization of the Generation of 45 for East Java it also has the task to support the existence of this organization in its effort to collect authentic data with regard to the history of our struggling nation and to enhance the identity of Surabaya as a Hero's City. Furthermore it in on this account very important to strife in preserving the Soul, Spirit and Value of 1945 everlastingly. Hall of The 1945 Struggle consists of three floors. On the ground floor there is a main hall or lobby for receiving very important person (VIP). In the center is a statue of the late Colonel Sungkono who had fought during the revolution and who became later Commander of the East Java Division of the army with the rank of Mayor General. At the right and left side of the main hall are rooms available for exhibition or others activities. On the third floor that can admit 1000 people and available for multipurpose events like wedding parties or reception, seminar, conference, etc. The shape of this "antique" building is adjusted to the philosophy of the struggling nation and the mission of the generation of 45. On the front are clusters of columns symbolizing bamboo spears as the traditional weapon use by the people in there struggle at the beginning of the revolution in 1945.
